Then, the development of searching and monitoring technology in the water would be desired.   The SONAR using acoustic wave is expected as searching and monitoring technology in the water , since its attenuation in the water is small and its field of view is hardly obstructed compared with the optical camera or the optical video camera.   At present, the development of the underwater security sonar system is in progress from 2005 for 3 years plan funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan.   As one of the element research, hull mount type acoustic radar, which is mounted on the ship such as the patrol vessel and can watch the water space for moving, has been developed.   In this report, compositions and imaging principles of this hull mount type acoustic radar developed for the first time are described.   Next, the radar was mounted on the training ship \"Itsumori\" (18m, 16 tons) of Japan Coast Guard Academy, and the results of the operational test carried out in the actual sea area around the Kure bay is reported.
