She was built in Denmark in 1897 as a Swedish rescue ship for a Salvaging company, and purchased by the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1905 during Russo-Japanese War. She could survive the Second World War, and after that served as the first training ship of Japan Coast Guard Academy.
