In the northern hemisphere, except for \"the latitude by meridian altitude\", a way to measure the elevation of the Polaris is considered as a method for determining the own latitude. It was shown how to measure latitude roughly by utilizing the nocturnal in the 17th century, there has been no progress since then.\n In order to measure the hour angle of the Polaris, we made an instrument based on the principle of the nocturnal. We attempted to determin the latitude using the method of elevation of the Polaris with this instrument.
